Level 2 charging equipment uses a 240 V circuit, similar to your home's dryer or range, and will charge your vehicle faster than a regular 120 V outlet. Vehicle models have different level 2 "charge acceptance rates" that range from 16 to 80 AMPs. This means they have varying maximum charging rates. Some charger models allow you to select from a variety of power levels. Be sure to pick the right size charger for your vehicle and driving needs.

Higher powered chargers may require additional electrical upgrades to your home and may even require utility upgrades to the transformer and service that supplies electricity to your home. Before purchasing a charging solution, talk with your electrician and/or utility about electrical requirements.
